Abstract

The field of medical device development is experiencing significant advancements, largely driven by the demand for innovative and patient-centered solutions. This paper explores the concept of human-centered design (HCD) as a fundamental approach to medical device development. HCD prioritizes the needs, preferences, and constraints of the end-users, ensuring that the final product is not only effective but also ergonomic and user-friendly. The abstract discusses the importance of incorporating user feedback throughout the design process, from initial conception to final product implementation. It highlights several key principles of HCD, including empathy, collaboration, and iterative prototyping. Furthermore, the paper examines the role of multidisciplinary teams in fostering a user-centric mindset and the potential challenges faced in translating user requirements into practical, marketable devices. Through a review of case studies, the abstract underscores the success of HCD in creating medical devices that have a positive impact on patient care and usability.
