Abstract

The field of aerospace engineering has witnessed remarkable advancements in recent years, particularly in the realm of additive manufacturing (AM) techniques. This paper explores the latest developments and applications of AM in aerospace, emphasizing the transformative impact it has on the industry. Additive manufacturing has revolutionized the way are designed and produced, allowing for complex geometries, reduced weight, and enhanced performance. We provide an overview of the various AM processes, including fused deposition modeling (FDM), selective laser melting (SLM), and electron beam melting (EBM), and discuss their respective advantages and limitations. Furthermore, the paper delves into the integration of these techniques into the aerospace supply chain, highlighting the benefits for both manufacturers and end-users. Case studies of successful AM applications in aircraft components, such as fan blades and fuel injectors, demonstrate the potential of AM to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enable new design possibilities. Finally, we address the challenges associated with the widespread adoption of AM in aerospace, such as material properties, quality control, and regulatory compliance, and propose potential solutions to overcome these hurdles. Overall, this paper underscores the significance of AM in shaping the future of aerospace, offering a glimpse into the possibilities it holds for the industry.
